Banquet celebrates National Trails System

This year we have joined with the Partnership for the National Trail System to help us celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the National Trails System Act and the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. 1968 was a great year in conservation history, adding Redwoods National Park and North Cascades National Park to the rolls as well.

Our award recipients include the Udall Family for their contributions to these key conservation victories, and a special tribute to the late Senator Gaylord Nelson, widely recognized as a founder of Earth Day, champion of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, and longtime Counselor to The Wilderness Society. Tia Nelson will be accepting the award on Gaylord's behalf.

NRCA will also present "the Academy Awards" of our community, including the Award of Honor, the Public Service Award, and Community Awards to NRCA member organizations in recognition of their outstanding work in 2007 to address global warming.
