Martic Township. No direct road access; property must be accessed by foot from PPL’s Kelly’s Run Recreation Area.
From Lancaster, follow PA Route 272 south to Truce Rd just north of Buck. Right on Truce Rd to Rawlinsville. Left on Drytown Rd, right on Old Holtwood Rd, then bear right at a fork into PPL’s Holtwood Recreation Area.
To access preserve, hike PPL’s blue-blazed Kelly’s Run Recreation Trail. At second power line cut turn right, head down to bottom of hill, turn left and follow Kelly’s Run to the Conservancy sign on far side of the stream. This is the southeastern corner of the preserve.
GPS: 39.844625, -76.330715
The remains of an old rocky road are visible where flat schistic rocks have been placed side by side in and beside the stream. The Conservancy’s Kelly’s Run Pinnacle Preserve now encompasses the Conservancy’s Kelly’s Run trails, the former PPL Pinnacle preserve and the former PPL Holtwood Nature Preserve.
Planning Your Walk
This preserve has mostly steep climbing from about 400 to 700 feet elevation, but there is a well-used equestrian path, and deer trails. The route along the stream is fairly level.
The westernmost part of the tract, with a small tributary to Kelly’s Run, has a cobblestone trail which allows easy access to this beautiful spot.
