Location: In the Poudre Canyon approximately 33 miles west of Fort Collins, CO on CO highway 14

Located at Mountain Park campground. Travel from Fort Colins north up US 287 to junction with Colorado 14. Then go west up Poudre Canyon on Colorado 14 for 23.5 mi. Turn into campground onto paved road. Within the campground you will find a small parking area. You start on Kreutzer Nature Trail 936# as Mt. McConnel is a loop off of the Kreutzer Nature Trail.


With a starting elevation of 6,646 ft at the trailhead and climbing to 7,980 ft, Mt. MConnel is approximately 2.3 miles to the summit. The Mt. McConnel Trail is mainly in wilderness, and is the upper loop off of the Kreutzer Nature Trail. The eastern portion of Mt. McConnel is much more of a primitive trail, and can be difficult, care should be exercised.
