SCHOLARSHIPS
Chattanooga, Tennessee ~ November 14-17, 2010

Youth Corps Scholarship opportunities

Via a generous grant through the US DOT Federal Highway Administration, American Trails is able this year to offer 5 scholarships as incentives to encourage Youth Corps participation and learning and networking opportunities at the American Trails National Symposium.

The American Trails Scholarship Program is designed to encourage and celebrate participation within the trails community. Scholarship funds will cover the cost of Symposium registration, flight, ground transportation (a car rental will not be required), shared lodging, and meals not covered at the Symposium (reimbursed at Federal government per diem rates). Scholarship recipients are expected to travel on November 13th and depart following the Symposium on the 17th. Recipients are expected to participate fully in the Symposium and to volunteer a minimum of 4 hours as a learning opportunity.

Support for Youth Corps participants at the American Trails National Symposium will help further Corps participation with the intention of developing new trail stewards and leaders for the future.

Scholarship requests must be postmarked no later than October 21, 2010. Scholarship recipients are expected to be notified ASAP.

To request a scholarship, send a letter to Candace Mitchell at candace@americantrails.org with "Symposium Youth Corps Scholarship Fund" in the subject line. Include the following items in your letter:

- a short bio reflecting your trails experience and interest
- the reasons you are requesting a scholarship
- why attending the Symposium would benefit you as you pursue your career in the field of trails
- how you can be contacted

Support documentation and/or recommendation letter(s) may be attached.
