National Recreation Trails... America's great trails!

Every kind of trail activity is represented in the listing of designated NRTs. Besides hiking and bicycling, the system includes water trails, motorized routes, snow tracks, greenways, and equestrian paths.

Village of Bluffton Pathway — This almost 3-mile rail-trail and greenway spans the entire town connecting local parks and recreational facilities. The trail enables area residents of all ages to enjoy a scenic stroll or bike ride through wooded lots and along two quarries. In addition to its many natural features, trail users can participate in a number of outdoor activities, such as horseback riding, fishing, and kayaking (designated 2003).

 

Stavich Bike Trail — The trail crosses two states, beginning in Struthers, Ohio and continuing into New Castle, Pennsylvania. Approximately 12 miles long, it connects three townships and two counties. Following along the former Youngstown-New Castle streetcar line, the trail takes riders through wooded countryside and over gentle hills, providing scenic views of the Mahoning River. In addition to bicycling, trail users are welcome to go hiking and even cross-country skiing in the winter (designated 2003).

 

Congressman Ralph Regula Towpath Trail – A section of the Ohio and Erie Canalway Towpath Trail, this 25-mile multi-use trail serves as the western spine of a planned 300-mile trail system throughout Stark County and offers a variety of recreational activities along a pathway rich in State history (designated 2008).
