Planning and Development Division

Park Planner 3 Position

The County Park and Recreation Department Planning and Development Division is committed to developing a model park system for the 21st century that includes a sustainable, connected system of Parks, Playgrounds and Conservation Land. Individuals interested in applying for the position of Planner 3 must be talented and motivated and have experience in greenways and trails planning, design and development as well as strong analytical and research skills as it relates to park planning, design, development, urban design and urban planning. These skills will contribute to implementing a vision for a model park system in the tropics. The vision will contribute to building better quality of life for all citizens in Miami-Dade County.

Salary: Entry $ 47,777 - Max. $ 80,208 Annually

Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications: Bachelor's degree and five years of progressive experience in Park and Recreation Administration, Landscape Architecture, Town Planning and or Urban Design and or Urban and Regional Planning, as well as a minimum of five years experience in the planning, design and development of greenways and trails. Master's degree preferred and three years of progressive experience in Park and Recreation Administration, Landscape Architecture, Town Planning and or Urban Design and or Urban and Regional Planning, as well as a minimum of three years experience in the planning, design and development of greenways and trails. The candidate must be versed in smart growth, sustainability and green infrastructure principles as they relate to park planning, development and urban design at the scale of the neighborhood, city, county and region.

Required qualifications: Master's degree and two years of professional planning experience to include park or recreation open space planning; or Bachelor's degree and three years of professional planning experience to include park or recreation open space planning.
