Hosted by AmericanTrails.org Volunteers For Outdoor Colorado seeks Executive Director Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to motivate and enable citizens to be active stewards of Colorado's public lands. VOC offers four interrelated programs and activities to meet its mission: VOC Conservation Projects, the Youth Conservators Initiative (YCI), Extending Your Reach training program, and V Outdoors, an on line, searchable database of outdoor volunteer and training opportunities. Since 1984, VOC has mobilized 46,000 volunteers, completing 239 large scale conservation projects worth nearly $12.5 million. The Executive Director serves as the Chief Executive Officer of VOC and is responsible to the Board of Directors for the effective conduct of the business and affairs of the organization. The Executive Director recommends and participates in the board formulation of goals and objectives and related policies. Within that framework, the Executive Director implements policy, and plans, organizes, coordinates and controls the programs and activities of VOC. Desired Qualifications: The VOC Board will look for the following qualities in an Executive Director (in no particular order) ¥ Bachelor's degree. Master's Degree in Planning, Public Administration, or other business field is helpful but not required. ¥ Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience ¥ Experience with nonprofit organizations, public relations and marketing, fundraising and grant writing is helpful, but not necessarily required. ¥ Commitment to public lands and stewardship ¥ Interest in volunteerism and service ¥ Respectful of process and volunteer involvement ¥ Leadership and motivational skills ¥ Excellent people skills ¥ Entrepreneurial spirit and style ¥ Capacity to be a good partner ¥ Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of personalities on a range of topics ¥ Comfort with hands on nature of much of the work ¥ Organizational and management skills; ability to fulfill wide variety of tasks ¥ Proficient with MS Office suite (Access, Excel, and Outlook) ¥ Energy, initiative and enthusiasm ¥ Willingness to work evenings and weekends as necessary Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 commensurate with experience, plus competitive benefits package.
