The America’s Byways Resource Center has a full-time opening for a Byways Resource Specialist to serve as the primary contact for assigned national designated scenic byway organizations, state byway coordinators, partner organizations, and state byway programs. The position involves providing technical assistance, information, contacts and support to further the goals of the National Scenic Byways Program and the goals outlined by local byway groups.
Essential skills include excellent oral and written communication, including presentations and training, writing grants, information articles, etc., strong organizational skills with self-motivation to work independently as well as in a collaborative team effort, facilitation skills to conduct meetings, problem solving and fact finding sessions and mediation. Must possess a sense of vision and follow-through to accomplish goals, the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with people at an individual and organizational level, and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience working with National Scenic Byways Program is desired. Other experience could include working with community groups and various levels of government and private organizations, professional work experience at the multi-state or national level, or work in planning, tourism, marketing, transportation, or historic preservation.
The Resource Center operates under a Cooperative Agreement between the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission and the Federal Highway Administration.
