Appalachian Trail Conservancy seeks Associate Regional Representative for Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee

The Appalachian Trail Conservancy seeks Associate Regional Representative for Georgia, North Carolina, and Tennessee to be based at its regional office in Asheville, N.C. Essential Responsibilities

*The Associate Regional Representative plans, coordinates, and implements volunteer-development and skills-training; administer regional trail crew and ridgerunner programs and hire and manage seasonal staff; conducts or facilitates Trail-assessments and local management-planning; helps educate the public to minimize adverse Trail impacts; works with clubs and agency partners to complete GPS assessments and long-range planning; contributes to review and development of ATC policies, programs, and budgets.

Qualifications

  • BA in environmental science, recreation management or resource management
  • 2--4 years related experience; strong oral and written communication skills
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office and e-mail software
  • Familiarity with the Appalachian Trail, hikers, and volunteering *· *Excellent field skills required - must be comfortable working in remote areas on and off Trail, in all weather conditions
  • Requires ability to organize, track, follow through to successful completion, and report the details of several programs at once
