Colorado Fourteeners Initiative seeks Volunteer Coordinator Position Title: Volunteer Coordinator Position Type: Full-time, year-round Location: Golden, CO Salary: $26,000 - $30,000 depending on experience The Colorado Fourteeners Initiative (CFI) is a partnership among nonprofit organizations, concerned individuals, and public agencies to protect and preserve the natural integrity of Colorado's 14,000-foot peaks through active stewardship and public education. Position Description: The Volunteer Coordinator will report to the Assistant Director and will be responsible for the effective management of CFI's volunteer programs as well as other tasks as assigned. The Volunteer Coordinator will work out of the CFI office in Golden, Colorado. In order to manage CFI volunteer programs effectively, some travel, as well as evening and weekend work is required. Responsibilities: - Manage project volunteer activities including registration process, confirmations, project information, and providing overall pre-project and post-project communication for project volunteers. - Serve as liaison between volunteers and field staff. Provide pre-project details and volunteer information for field crews. - Volunteer outreach. - Manage Volunteer Leadership Program, including Design Assistant and Crew Leader volunteer positions. - Act as Leave No Trace education specialist on staff. - Manage Peak Steward volunteer program. - Supervise Education and Outreach Intern for the Peak Steward Program. - Develop and organize volunteer trainings for technical trail skills, Design Assistants, Crew Leaders, and Peak Stewards. - Coordinate annual special events including annual fundraiser, volunteer open house, volunteer picnic, and volunteer trainings. - Work with Adopt-a-Peak Coordinator to recruit volunteers and to serve as liaison among volunteers, partners, interested individuals, and CFI field staff. - Key contact person in the CFI office to receive personal, phone, and e-mail inquiries. - Work in conjunction with Assistant Director to develop and update volunteer content for publications and materials. - Database management, including upgrades and data entry procedures. - Other tasks as assigned. CFI is a small nonprofit wherein all members of staff contribute to tasks relating to the overall volunteer management of CFI. Qualifications: Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in related field and/or applicable work experience, strong written and verbal communication skills, proven interpersonal and organizational skills, computer skills, be in good physical condition, be self-motivated and passionate about the outdoors, and have a strong conservation ethic. Other desired qualifications include: outdoor education experience, volunteer recruitment experience, and experience working with state or federal land management agencies.
